So you've considering to come to Nuthouse Studios to record? You may be asking yourself what does that entail? What do we need to bring? How should we prepare? What should you expect? Well look no further!

For starters to have a smooth session and to achieve the best results preparation is key! Make sure you and potentially your band know your material back to front. All of our favourite songs have one thing in common excellent performances by incrediable musicians. Second comes the gear, whether you bring your own equipment or want to use ours is up to you! But Making sure your equipment is ready is very important! That means Fresh guitar strings, a spare set of strings and eliminating any extra noise from your equipment e.g. a noisey pedal. This coupled with the right microphone for the job makes for a easy mixing process and fast results. Next is the pro production meeting. Here we will discuss what sound you want to achieve, whether you stipulate what sound you are going for or provide reference tracks these are important things to help us to help you. Having a great attitude when walking into the studio is incredibly important, keeping a positive fun atmosphere is arguably the most important aspect of recording, it increases productivity and produces better performances. The last thing you want is getting anxious or frustrated while recording leading to time and money wasted, so we will do everything in our power to avoid that and keep you smiling!

Rocking up on the day it is very important to arrive on time. While we provide flexibility with our time and sessions, we want to make sure you get the most out of your time here. Take your time to set up and get your sound right. Take into consideration what tuning your drums are in, this can make a massive difference in mix clarity and help everything find their place in the mix. Singers make sure your voice is warmed up and ready! Need some tea and honey? No worries we have you covered! Once we have line checked and have the sound ready to go it's all on you and your performance! Thats when the magic happens!

Once we are at the mixing stage you're welcome to sit back in the console room and help craft the sound you want. Do keep in mind though that too much chatter will hinder the mixing session and draw them out. It's important that our engineer has the space to think clearly while they work methodically, but by no means if you think something needs over dubbing, add a Tamborine or whatever, now is the time to speak up! Mixing is a creative process in itself so we offer it being a collaborative process as well.

Once the mixing is wrapped up we hand the files to you! This will include all stems, tracks, the final mix and our logo to put on the back of your album cover! You are now part of the Nuthouse Family!
